The Thompson
Group's Guide
to Networking & Business Skills
The Thompson Group presents a lively, interactive
seminar that is full of useful tips regarding effective networking,
communication skills and business development. We begin with the
overall concept of business networking and how it is really about
building and maintaining business relationships - both within and
outside your company.
Subjects covered include:
- the
four steps of networking
- making
the most of events
- tools
of the trade
- choosing
a networking organization
- courting
prospective clients
- creative
ways in which to set yourself apart from your competitors
- utilizing
voice-mail and e-mail as business tools
There are two levels of "Business Basics" available for businesses;
a two hour presentation and a four-hour workshop (which includes
specific "homework" assignments). Both sessions include role-playing
and offer ample time for Q&A. It is appropriate to schedule the
session around the breakfast or lunch hours. The Thompson Group
does not require any Audio-Visual equipment, and can present to
groups from 10 to 100. "Business Basics" is appropriate for all
staff levels, and includes issues on basic business etiquette; we
can also customize the course to address specific issues or concerns.
The fees for "Business Basics" range from $500 to $2000,
based on the length of the presentation and the number of attendees.
The Thompson Group has presented "Business Basics" for many companies
and organizations, including:
Austin Software Council
Dell Computer Corporation
Price Waterhouse Coopers
Ernst & Young
IKON Office Solutions
Young Women's Alliance
The Thompson Group began offering a public seminar
of "Business Basics" in the Fall of 1999. If you would like more
