TECHIE
PROGRAM
Technology businesses often have different needs than
other types of organizations, and The Thompson Group has customized
our services to meet those needs. Some high tech companies do not
have a significant number of customers or prospects in the Greater
Austin marketplace, but need to build name recognition and business
relationships for other reasons, such as employee recruiting, public
relations and fund-raising. "Techies," as they are sometime called,
benefit from the following Thompson Group services, developed solely
for their needs:
"Business
Etiquette for Techies"
This training course was created especially for technical
professionals who are also leaders and representatives of their business.
This course is available to companies, and is best delivered over
a two-hour breakfast or lunch. The session can be customized for companies'
specific issues, and is appropriate for any level of employee. The
Thompson Group offers a public half-day seminar, as well, twice per
year.
Topics covered include:
- Running
an effective meeting.
- Developing
a "tag line" for your business and how to tell your story.
- Making
the most of a networking event.
- Choosing
a networking organization.
- Choosing
and using marketing tools.
- Managing
communication both internally and externally.
- Working
productively with vendors and suppliers.
- Dealing
with the media.
"Techie Networking Events"
The Thompson Group, in collaboration with other organizations
for technology professionals, organizes several networking events
each year strictly for the technology community. For example, in
the summer of 1998, over 200 representatives from about 130 high
tech companies and professional service providers specializing in
the high tech sector attended a reception and private showing of
Zachary Scott Theatre's acclaimed production of "The Who's Tommy."
Members of the American Electronic Association, the Austin Software
Council, the Technology Advisors Group and The Thompson Group's
clientele enjoyed the chance to meet one another as well as to participate
in Austin's arts and culture community.

"Tech
Network Roundtable"
The high tech members of The Thompson Group
Network have their own Roundtable, focusing on issues relevant
to their technology businesses. Luncheons are held quarterly
for these clients, and include workshops and guest speakers
on subjects that are more immediately important to them, such
as recruiting and retaining employees, differentiating their
business/product in the marketplace, developing a community/charitable
giving plan, and managing relationships with the media. |
